Responsive Leadership
for Washoe County
~ My Story ~

Hi, I'm Keith and Washoe County is my home. It’s also a place that I know really, really well – literally from the ground up!
I have spent over a quarter century planning and facilitating the building of streets, highways, outdoor recreational spaces, walking paths, libraries and more, in this beautiful county where I have lived most of my life. My experience working in professional engineering positions with the City of Reno, and as a citizen appointed to Washoe County advisory boards and commissions, has given me unique and relevant insight into the issues that our district and the larger community face – as well as the wonderful future opportunities that exist. I know how our local governments works, and will use that experience to meet the challenges facing Washoe County
My career spans 40 years as a civil, traffic, and transportation engineer for city and county governments – most notably employment with the City of Reno for 25+ years. In that time, I held positions as a senior civil engineer and director of traffic and transportation, which included extensive experience working closely with the Nevada Department of Transportation and the Washoe County Regional Transportation Commission.
In addition to my work as a dedicated public servant, I am pleased to offer for your consideration my lifelong history as a community volunteer. My volunteer work includes active support, membership, and leadership in women’s and human services’ health-related organizations, the Washoe County Library System, environmental groups, outdoor recreation events, cultural programs, and participation in Washoe County planning committees.
Raised in Reno, my upbringing cultivated a love of nature, outdoor recreation, and environmental respect. I graduated from Reno High School and attended the University of Nevada, Reno, where I received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE). Additionally, I hold a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from the University of San Francisco. I must happily add that during my time at UNR, I was fortunate to meet the most important person in my life – my wife and lifelong partner, Jan.
I will bring an unparalleled level of Integrity, Commitment, and Experience to my role as your County Commissioner for District 2 through my goals of:
-
Responsive and transparent government
-
Public safety
-
Well-managed and sustainable growth
-
Meeting priority human service needs
-
Timely infrastructure construction
-
A County Commissioner who will listen, learn, and lead
As the only true Responsive Leader for Washoe County in this race that will listen, learn and lead, I respectfully ask you to vote for me, Keith Lockard, this November.
Thank you!
